IMPROVING healthcare CREATING opportunites CONNECTING communities

African Americans and other communities of color have been historically underrepresented in biosciences—from scientists working at the bench, to biotech entrepreneurs creating their own companies, to the occupants of the corner offices in the large pharmaceutical companies.

NABB is working to address these issues and provide more opportunities for people of color within Bio by initiatives such as:

  • Pipeline Diversity Project (PDP): Pipeline Diversity is a minority candidate database of new graduates, middle-to- upper level scientists and business leaders interested in and experienced in Bio.   PDP is designed to showcase the talent and experience of the minority Bio community and function as a direct link between top employers, projects and other minority professionals in the industry.
  • Bio/Life Sciences Fellowship Program: The Bio Fellowship Program will be established to provide access to and opportunities for highly qualified minority candidates who are in later stages of graduate and post-graduate training in biomedical research, the legal profession and business school.
  • Bioentrepreneurs Series: Tapping into networks of BIO professionals and in collaboration with other BIO-oriented organizations, this ongoing forum examines the issues and provides an in-depth look at the process of becoming a bioentrepreneur from the viewpoint of those who have done so successfully.
